Getting work done…

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

Have you ever tought about not getting your work done? why? most probably because you are lazy or don feel like moving. sometimes i tell myself that my eyes are too heavy, so i will go to my bed and sleep. isn’t this a lame excuse for not finishing your work?

I think that everybody in the world has the ability and potential to fulfill the job delegated. everyone has the ability to fulfill the expectations. I remember one day when our director of undergraduate studies call all the first and second year student to the hall to give a talk. He told a story about Bill Clinton. It is about him when he was in the high school. During that time, President John F. Kennedy was in presidency. so the school announce that the president will visit the school one day, but only those in the top 5 can have the opportunity to meet him in person. Bill Clinton being the hundred-and-sixty-something, decided that he will be in the top 5 before President John F. Kennedy visits the school. And he worked hard everyday to achieve his target. and guess what, before the president visits, he was in the top 5. i think he must have been very very hardworking that time. but imagine, if it wasn’t the visit of the president, he wouldn;t have worked hard. Why? sometimes we just dont give ourselve enough reason to work hard. Like him, after receiving the news, he gave himself enough reason to work hard for it. I think we can create this reasons in our mind whenever and wherever we want it. it’s just a matter of whether we want to do it or not.

Then during the president visits, Bill Clinton had a chance to shake his hand and manage to talk to him. I was really amazed when Dr I.K told us what did Bill Clinton told President JFK. Guess what he said… "One day, I will become the president of the United States of America" woah…. What a statement at a high school age. And i think all of you know what Bill Clinton became in the end right?

Other than getting things done, he has the guts to challenge himself. Why I say so? ok… let’s say one day you have a chance to meet the prime minister of Malaysia, would you have the guts to tell him that one day you will be the prime minister of malaysia? think about it. isn’t it time for us to wake up? challenge ourself and make a difference?

Stand up, And do what you ought to do ….
